We stayed in Room 19 which had the most incredible view of the lake. If you are thinking of booking, do not hesitate and, please, do it. Simply, the Moraine Lake Lodge is incredible. We knew that Moraine Lake would be our favorite stop.

It was the last full day and evening of our week-long trip to Banff. My husband and I stayed at the Moraine Lake Lodge for one night. But unless I could be assured that this noise has been dealt with I would not stay there again.
Everything else about the place was very nice, the breakfast buffet was good, it was great to have a free canoe trip on the lake included in the price of our stay. Whether this problem also occurs in the cabins or is just restricted to rooms in the lodge I don't know, but either way it is not acceptable that any guests paying upwards of $600 a night should have to put up with this. I would be unhappy if I had to experience that noise for a night in a cheaper hotel but when paying over $600 (Canadian) for what is supposed to be a luxurious retreat I have to say that enduring a problem like that is really quite unacceptable. I would hope that whatever was causing that noise is being looked in to/addressed by the management team and that future guests will not have to endure this problem. Ultimately the main purpose of a hotel room is to get a good night's sleep, something that we were unable to do at Moraine Lake Lodge due to this noise that persisted throughout the night. So whilst Moraine Lake Lodge is in a truly beautiful location and the beds and rooms are very comfortable, I would not stay there again nor could I recommend it due to this awful noise. Not only was it noisy but it was actually vibrating in our room, and you could feel the vibration through the floor and headboards.

I can only imagine that the noise must have been coming from a loud generator of some kind. I also noticed whilst in the reception area at that time that there was a loud, vibrating noise in that area similar to what we could hear in our room.
I did go to the reception area as I was considering using the emergency phone to speak to someone, but then decided that it could not really be classed as an emergency and that whoever I spoke to was unlikely to do anything about the problem at 11pm. However, overall we did not enjoy our stay here due to the the awful vibrating noise that went on throughout the whole night in our room (Room 27, ground floor of the main lodge) The level of the noise only really became apparent when we tried to go to sleep and by that point it was too late to contact anyone on reception about it. Moraine Lake Lodge is a beautiful building and our room was very comfortable and very tastily decorated, with an amazing view of the lake. I really wanted to love this place and was very excited to stay there.
